Private by default
Every highlight, note and draft you create is private by default. Nothing you keep is shared with anyone — not your groups, not other readers — unless you take a deliberate action to share it. There is no setting buried somewhere that changes this without you noticing.
What groups can and can’t see
Groups share collective progress through a book, and whatever discussions or passages a member chooses to bring into them. Groups cannot see an individual member’s highlights, notes or reflections — those stay private to that reader, always. The one exception: a group may show a roster of members’ pace through the shared book, listed alphabetically, never ranked, and never visible outside that group.
What we collect
Account details (name, email), the books and articles you import, and the content you create — highlights, notes, drafts, discussion posts. We use this to run the product: sync your library, show your groups their shared progress, and let you publish your own writing.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data. We don’t show you ads based on what you read or write. We don’t track engagement to keep you scrolling — there are no streaks, likes or leaderboards in the product for a reason, and there’s nothing behind the scenes measuring that either.
Published writing
When you publish a piece, its text and the passages you credited become public, attached to your name, on your own page. Everything else you kept along the way — your notes, unpublished drafts, and highlights you didn’t cite — stays private.
Your control
You can export or delete your account and everything in it at any time. Deleting removes your highlights, notes and drafts; published pieces are removed from public view immediately.
